Dear Member,

Our AGM has come and gone and I enclose our chairman’s report for those of you who did not attend. Will and Amye retired from the committee and we welcomed on Philippa (junior rep) and Gabby.

Members at the AGM also voted for a subscription increase as unfortunately BRC have increased our affiliation fees. From 1st November 2002 a full year’s membership is now £18, and a £2 joining fee will apply both to new members and existing members who do not pay their subscription by the end of December.

Please put your cheque in the post today if you wish to remain a member as I shall not be sending out any reminders and I know how forgetful you all are!! Please just write your name on the back of the cheque so I know whom it is from.

Postage costs are ever increasing as the club grows and we need to send out mailings more regularly (your short memories again!) and so some members suggested at the AGM that everyone sends in 6 postage stamps with their renewal. If you can manage to do this it would be most appreciated.

Now some items of good news:

The ‘all-weather’ school at Cabalva has been in need of repair for some time, varying between soggy in the wet and very hard (as Will knows to his cost!) in the dry. Mrs Revel Guest has agreed to get the repairs done and a new rubber and sand surface laid. This should mean that we can run schooling sessions successfully in a wide range of weathers. The school will also be for hire by individual members. Please contact Helena (01497 831642) for details.

Bowing to popular demand, we are organising a summer ball. Friday 11th July 2003 is the date, Munstone House, Hereford, is the venue. The ball will be in aid of the Hereford and Worcester Air Ambulance. Plans are being made for a band, a casino, and a coach from Hay…. Get the date in your diary now, as we really do want to make this a night to remember and raise a lot of money for a cause very close to all of our hearts.

Those of you who are interested in competing at BRC qualifiers, please do contact Helena. Details of some of the qualifiers are on the enclosed events list and we would like to keep up our good record! However, we will now be taking entry fees for the qualifier from you when you decide to come on a team and not on the day. Once an entry is in, it is non-refundable by BRC whatever the circumstances.

Gabby Franklin, our newest committee member, is a passionate dressage to music/quadrille rider on her Highland chap. She is very keen to hear from other members who are interested, whether you have never done it before or have some experience, so that we can perhaps get a sub-group going. Please contact Gabby on 01981 510606 (after work only). We hope to get a demonstration from her team of ‘natives’ next year when the weather improves.

Also being planned for early next year is another vet talk, an evening of videos and questions with Matt Ryan, and, as the weather gets better, training with Graham Law, William Miflin and David Green. Also for your diary is the Area 15 Summer Camp. Friday 15th to Sunday 17th August 2003 at Chepstow Racecourse. Some of our members went last year and had an excellent time – both educational and fun. Further details will be sent out when we receive them.

Finally, with Christmas coming up, remember that GVRC does a range of clothing and they make excellent gifts!

Best wishes.

Anna
